Bristol Line traffic patterns

The trains running on the Bristol Line have changed their traffic patterns 
in the last week.  It started after Thanksgiving.  They are now running a 
lot shorter trains and as a result they are also running a lot 
faster.  There are also fewer.  I haven't seen trains running this fast 
since the early 90's!  Does anyone know why?
