The F units were orginally produced starting in 1939 and then delayed 
until after WWII.  Some of them are still operating today.  The 
Virginian never had an F units, having opted for Fairbanks Morse 
products and a lone GE 44-tonner.  C&O on the other hand had a lot of 
them.  They were numbered in the 7000 series and operated system wide. 
 For you railroad you could even have GPs as C&O also had those as 1954 
was when they really began in service
