Ohio Museum - N&W E2 #587 up for "grabs"

I would certainly rather an organization like the NCTM get it than the NS/VMT, since if the NC museum gets it there is SOME chance it may run again. If the VMT gets it, it will sit forlornly in Roanoke. Ideally the Ohio group could get it and use it a lot. Wouldn't have to move it nearly as far, as i am sure Dennison is a lot closer to the locomotive where it is now than any other possible new owner would be.
I think if I won the lottery I'd buy it myself. So far all I am doing is donating money to the state!

Up for grabs is going to mean let the bidding begin. I talked with one of our guys about possibly getting it for the HVRM, but we decided it's probably going to be an expensive item to obtain. It's also going to be expensive to move it. As an example of the cost, it cost $10k to move C&O 2716 from Fort Wayne to Kentucky.

As a matter of fact I was going to call "Spencer" (NCTM) today to make sure they were aware of the availability, but it turned in to "one of those days" once I got to work and didn't remember it again till I was trying to keep it under 65mph to get to back to the sanctuary of home. Hopefully Monday will be more conducive to the things that REALLY matter most. I sure wish I could win that lottery about now! Does anyone know what the asking price is? I mean what is up for "grabs"?

Hey - I would like to see it at Spencer - North Carolina
Transportation Museum. At least it would be somewhere
Where it would be taken care of and maybe run eventually!!!!

This I agree with! Spencer is turning into a really nice place!
