Mallet Engines on the Saltville Branch - When?

Cool it, Bob. The Saltville Branch did not run from Pulaski to Galax. It
ran from Glade Spring to Saltville. The North Carolina Branch ran from
Pulaski to Galax. On the North Carolina Branch, engines were, indeed,
turned at Fries Junction so they could run forward on the return trip. The
Saltville Branch was much shorter, and engines could back up from Glade
Spring to Saltville and run forward on the return trip.

Remember: North Carolina Branch - Pulaski to Galax.

Saltville Branch - Glade Spring to Saltville.
