De-accessioned Collection Items Available

The Ohio Railway Museum (ORM)  [www.ohiorailwaymuseum.com] of Worthington, Ohio 
recently completed a new strategic plan for the museum. This plan included the 
adoption of a mission focusing on the Museum's noted collection of traction 
equipment. The plan included the evaluation and de-accessioning of part of the 
collection. As a result, the following items are available to other organizations.

Railroad Equipment
Norfolk and Western 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive, #587, Alco, Richmond, 1910. 
Complete, fair condition. Last operated 1978

Erie (NYS&W) Gas-Electric, #5012,  EMC. Complete, poor condition. Last operated 
1980's

****Pennsylvania RR Pullman Compartment Car, Times Square (Broadway Limited) 
1925.Complete, poor condition.****

Norfolk and Western Combine, #1511, Bethlehem, 1918, Complete, very poor condition.

****Pennsylvania RR Division Superintendent Business Car [Series Z-62], 7530, 
Williamsport, Altoona, 1928. Complete, poor condition.****

Refrigerator Cars (several), Various builders, 1930-40's, used for storage. Fair 
condition.

Ballast Car, air operated.Complete, good condition.

Traction Equipment:
Chicago and North Shore Interurban Coach, #154, Brill, 1915. Complete, poor 
condition. Last operated 1980's.

(2) Chicago Elevated Cars, 4000 series, Cincinnati 1924.
Both complete. #4449 in poor condition, #4441 in very poor condition. Last 
operated 1990's.

Toronto Street Railways, C-2, Brownhoist Crane, 1920's mounted on flat car.Very 
poor condition. Last operated 1990's.

Other
Bantam Crane, rubber tires, currently not operating and down rated. Can be 
converted to High Rail. Complete, good condition.

To efficiently manage the distribution of the de-accessed items, the museum has 
developed a proposal process. Those interested in obtaining de-accessed items 
must use the following proposal. This information will be used by the Ohio 
Railway Museum to decide disbursement. Please fill out all the information as 
completely as possible.

> Items on the list you are interested in obtaining.
> What are your plans/intended use of the item and how will this augment your collection.
> What you will offer the Ohio Railway Museum for the piece.
> Timeline for acquisition and removal from the ORM.
> How will the item be moved?
> Does your organization have a collections policy?
> List projects your organization has successfully completed.
Each proposal will require a Board resolution from your organization approving 
the request.

Terms of Acquisition
> All pieces are as is where is.
> The ORM can assist with switching cars around the museum site.
> The ORM cannot assist with the process of moving the items off of our grounds.
> The purchaser will need to make all arrangements for movement off the property.
Preference may go to member organizations of ARM, TRAIN, NRHS or other nonprofit 
organizations. Upon agreement, the ORM may require a portion of the terms to 
hold the item.

[personal comments:  I think the Erie doodlebug would be an ideal addition to 
the RR Museum of Pa., representing both Erie passenger service and a more modern 
doodlebug.  The business car I have a little trouble with.  Our honorable friend 
and comrade Mr. Levin needs it like he needs another hole in his head; ditto the 
RRer's Memorial Museum or the RR Museum of Pa.  Central Pa. NRHS in White Deer, 
near Williamsport, would have been a decent possibility before the collapse of 
their bridge, landlocking their display area.  Maybe the North 
Shore/NBER/Lycoming Valley wants to bring the real thing back home for their use?]
