Ed, the diagrams I used were not specific on the number of syphons, only
their existence and the SF of heating surface.   I probably should have
used the notation "syphon(s)" to reflect this lack of information.   It
looks like the phrase "the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get" applies
here.  At least the complete answer (existence, number and size) came out
through a joint effort by all the participants on the mailing list.
