Let's not omit the three retired Class A's which generated steam for a Union
Carbide chemical plant in W. Va. for a few years.  Thanks to U.C. needing
additional steam in a hurry,  # 1218 survived - - - the rest is history.

And please do not refer to the Roanoke Shops as " backwoods ".  I know they
built fewer than 500 locos compared to Baldwin and Alco at 75,000 each - but,
as the later slogan of Ford Motor Co. - " Quality was Job # 1 ".  Nuff said.

552 - E2b Retired June 29, 1940 later used as stationary boiler at Bristol,
VA.

1317 - Z1a Retired Aug. 31, 1944 later used as stationary boiler at Norfolk
Enginehouse
1330 - Z1a Retired Oct. 1935 later used as stationary boiler at Shenandoah, VA
1355 - Z1b Retired July 27, 1956 used as stationary boiler at Lamberts Point
Coal Pier
1397 - Z1b Retired Aug. 24, 1956 converted to stationary oil fired boiler at
             Lamberts Point Coal Pier

There must be others that were converted to stationary boilers.  Any one with
additions to the list?
