Jim Brewer replies:

N&W had the following depressed center flat cars:

70099, Class F1, built 1948 by Ralston Steel; its depression was 22 feet
long

202903, Class F32, built 1953 at Frankfort (NKP ???); its depression was 21
feet long

202905 & 202907, Class F33, built 1961 by Greenville; its depression was 25
feet long

202906 & 202908, Class F34, built 1962 by Greenville; its depression was 25
feet long

The Class F1 is the only "original" N&W depressed center car that I have
info on; there may have been some others and I will continue to look; it was
56 feet, 10 inches coupled length, and its platform was 53 feet, 2 inches
long

The F32, F33 and F34 were all originally NKP cars that came to N&W in the
1964 merger.

The F32 was 60 feet, 11 inches coupled length; 57 feet, 9 inches platform
length; capacity was 250,000 pounds

The F33 was 75 feet, 4 inches coupled length; 56 feet, 6 inches platform
length; capacity was 400,000 pounds

The F34 was 83 feet, 10 inches coupled length; 56 feet, 6 inches platform
length; capacity was 500,000 pounds

Hope this helps some; does anyone have any other information on "original
N&W" depressed center flat cars?

Hey, Bobaloo!

The pre-merger (1964) had one such car, with Buckeye trucks. I believe the
number was 70099, but Bob Bowers will have to help me on that.
